[edit] A new template you might want to have a squiz at
Hey there. I recently created the template Template:Clickpic (although it's not original content) and I thought you might like to check it out. I notice at the moment you have a bunch of image pages redirecting to other pages within the wiki; such as the image| This page is a candidate for deletion. |
| If you disagree with the deletion of this page, please explain why on the discussion page.
Admins please check what links here and the page history before deleting. |

At the moment I've only got around to replacing the image RD's in the 'GreenskinCareerNav' template, but I hope to eventually find the time to return and change a few more of them :D.

- That's a great idea. I'll need to take a closer look at it when I have a spare moment, but I'm liking what you've done so far. - Pendrako talk 16:37, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] NDA breaking
The two pictures for the AH and Auctioneers have been taken from this video: Link Still pretty bad quality pictures.--KoalaMeatPie 15:28, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Heh. Missed that one. We still can't use them though, thanks to good old Mr Copyright Violation. Essentially, when it comes to screenshots, the only ones we can use are those on the official site, and in-game screenshots taken by players once the NDA is lifted. We don't really need to rely on poor quality screen grabs as placeholders. - Pendrako talk 20:46, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- I seeee. Thank you. Ummm, Is that at, or after the CE headstart? --KoalaMeatPie 00:02, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely during the CE headstart, and also probably during the Open Beta. - Pendrako talk 06:35, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, Pendrako, I am not a lawyer but I am fairly certain that if we snap a screencap out of a released video (even if the video itself would be ineligible for use), it is a small enough portion of the work to easily fall within the bounds of fair use. I would not be uncomfortable with using such (unless I am misunderstanding what exactly we're talking about). » Bishop · talk « 21:16, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Even if the video in question is released by a gaming presss site such as Gamespot or Ten Ton Hammer? I can see how there wouldn't be a problem using screencaps from Mythic's videos, but in a similar way to how we don't use any screenshots provided exclusively to gaming websites, we shouldn't use video footage (including screencaps) taken by non-mythic sources, unless we have their permission. Also, I am not a lawyer. - Pendrako talk 07:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- I seeee. Thank you. Ummm, Is that at, or after the CE headstart? --KoalaMeatPie 00:02, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have a question reguarding the NDA. Are those with closed beta access allowed to change blaringly incorrect descriptions in, say, the Career section? I understand that there has to be a protection of information, but if there were very obvious mis-descriptions would they be allowed to be edited to the correct information? -- Raidenight talk 13:08, 26 July 2008
- I'd say removing blatantly wrong information would be okay, whereas putting in the correct information instead would probably violate the NDA. However, even the former could be construed as information leakage and if you're unsure or uncomfortable with doing it, I would simply not. The NDA will be lifted soon enough. » Bishop · talk « 21:16, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Greetings
Hey Pendrako. I'm on the Wikia Gaming Team, and Doug asked me to drop by and touch base with you about helping out with getting a couple things taken care of before the upcoming Wikia promotional Warhammer event... specifically, maximizing search engine optimization and switching to Monaco skin. I'm told that the switch to Monaco should be done soon, since the new version of Monaco will be going live in a couple weeks. Leave me a message on my talk page when you get a chance, and we'll go from there. JoePlay 21:54, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Joe. Welcome to HammerWiki. It is always good to see new Wikia faces. Please see User_talk:Galezewski, HammerWiki_talk:Community_Portal#HammerWiki_default_skin and User_talk:Bishop#Main_Page_rename for information on the topics at hand. Thanks. :) » Bishop · talk « 12:38, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Spambot
If you look in recentchanges there is an edit on June 1 by User:Jack2008 - I think he's a spambot from the look of his talkpage - User talk:Jack2008 - Obviously i'm not sure, but it seems like he's seen "online game" as a keyword in hammerwiki and registered to make that add relating to online games. ~ Revoran 03:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Edit Conflict - Tzeentch/Slaanesh
Oh so that was you? I thought it was my own computer thinking I was edit conflicting, it does that a lot :-/. Sorry for pushing my edit through -it links to the correct image now, the non-duplicate one. ~ Revoran 20:18, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, just make sure to have a check through Special:Newimages before you start uploading images from the newsletter, you might save yourself a bit of time ;) - Pendrako talk 20:35, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disambiguation Pages
I just finished clearing up some confusion around the White Lion and Great Weapon articles:
eg:
- White Lion - the career / War Lion - the pet / White Lion (creature) - the Mob / various other redirect pages to each.
- Great Weapons - ability / Great Weapon - the weapons themselves / Great Weapon (Elves) - lore article / Greatsword.
It may get more complicated in future as we get more articles for mobs / things. Though the only one I can think of offhand, is if we have Sigmar, and then Sigmar (server) - the developers internal test server.
I was just wondering if it would be worth having disambiguation pages for some terms? -it would save having long cursive notes everywhere. And if so how to make them? And out of interest, what happened to Bishop's Userpage - a victim of the merger? ~ Revoran 01:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Nice one. The Great Weapons upgrade might not be needed any more - that's an old bit of info that might have changed. Otherwise, I think you're on the right track. Disambiguation pages are probably going to be inevitable, but we should try to avoid them if we can. One option to look at is having combined articles that give the info about each subject in a seperate section. Then there's making sure that the article is named correctly. Other disambiguation examples: Choppa / Choppa (weapon), War Boar / War Boar Mount, WAAAGH! / Waaagh! (ability) / "Waaagh!". Going with the mount example, it might be better for the War Lion to have "War Lion Pet" and "War Lion" articles, or possibly combine the pet info into the main White Lion article.
- As far as Bishop's user page goes, well spotted - something seems to be a bit fubar'd here. It's been moved to User:GW-GW-Bishop, which isn't satisfactory at all. I'll look into it.
- Also, a minor point - when adding comments to a talk page, it's usually best to add them to the bottom ;) - Pendrako 07:10, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, my bad, force of habit from social networking sites :-/ . ~ Revoran
[edit] Unsigned thankyou from User:Eyrdal
Thanks. Warhammer fans deserve information, and I get the feeling they'll be getting plenty of it in the coming weeks, as the nondisclosure agreement will end in a couple of weeks.
[edit] A question: guilds?
Alright so I have a guild going into the Warhammer Guild beta and it will definitely last into and past launch. And it occured to me that the beta forums and game forums (see WoW forums for proof) can be a little useless and a little hard to navigate. I was wondering if maybe it would be considered that there could be a major guilds page on HammerWiki, where guilds could somehow create their own page about their guilds. Wiki's are so easy to navigate, it would be an effective way for people to view some of the Warhammer guilds. Also, you could organize them by server and faction in order to make it even easier to navigate. Perhaps, later there could be under the main guild area one or two featured guilds that could be changed every other week or some ambiguous amount of time. Idk just an idea for something I thought my be useful. Also, is there a better place I should be posting these sorts of suggestions? Just let me know. -- Raidenight talk 18:26, 26 July 2008
- Firstly, we currently have a no guild pages policy, which explains the reasons why you won't find any articles about guilds on the main namespace of the wiki. However, the tone of the policy as it's written might be overly negative. There has already been talk about allowing guild pages, possibly by using a "Guild:" namespace to provide an area to add guild pages, and as with all policies on the wiki, it's always possible to review the No Guild Pages policy and make changes where necessary, especially while we're waiting for the game to be released.
- It's probably best to continue this on the no guild pages talk page. - Pendrako talk 07:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Monaco
Hey Pendrako! I'm not sure if you have the Community Portal on your watchlist, but I wanted to make sure that you saw that we have a custom Monaco skin for HammerWiki ready, and I would love to have any feedback or suggestions that you might be able to provide. You can check out the details on the community portal. --KyleH

[edit] New Timeline
I am here to ask you permission to redo the timeline to very detailed list of all armys in war and others i have al the offical 7th edition time lines of the elves and all 6th edition lists and army books so I ask of you can I please update this page to the exsact date and with the newer army books all from 1998-2008 aug.
I have just started the project but I don't think I can heavly edit a core page without a admins consent. The new timeline is going to be broken into sections because of its lenth. It will also add a history of other lands such as The Far east(nippon, cathy), lustria and skaven underworld
Thank you for reading DD2725 10:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- You don't really need to have "permission" to make edits like that, from us or anyone (he gave me and I think perhaps Bishop a comment as well). But it is good that you discussed it first :). You may want to not change the "abridged timline of major events" so much as it's just that - abridged but i'm sure other dates can be added to the main timeline? The only objections people might have is that it lists the six main races in WAR and is organised around them, though i don't see a problem with adding other sections. User:Mikeblack was mostly responsible for the timeline, so you might want to talk to him about it, though he hasn't been active in a month or so, I think. Does anyone else have thoughts? ~ Revoran | talk 15:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes thanks but it's a heavy edit and I looked at Mikeblacks Profile and yes he is inactive but I'll send him the message anyways.
- Bishop said" I'm not sure. I'm a little worried about scope and about getting too close to reproducing GW material verbatim (or close to it), both of which are issues that should be considered. But I am not much of a lore-buff myself and I will leave the specifics and discussion in the hands of those who are unless I am specifically asked to arbitrate. » Bishop · talk « 19:34, 14 August 2008(UTC)" Retrieved from ::"http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Bishop"
- Gameworshop have no offical OVERALL timline and if they let you have a wikia a timeline would be acceptable too.
- PS It's almost done Dd2725 19:00, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's true that you don't need permission to go editing pages here, and I appreciate the effort you're putting into this, but bear in mind that Warhammer is Batman and it has no official canon. Especially with long lore articles, if it's felt that content doesn't fall within the scope of Warhammer Online, it's likely to get trimmed and/or re-edited at some point. But that's just how wikis work. - Pendrako talk 20:52, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- I see, but do I have consent? Dd2725 11:12, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- I took Pendrako to mean that you can edit the pages (yes you have consent), but bear in mind that it might get changed or even reverted later. Also, as Bishop was worried, try not to copy the exact wording into our timeline, re-word the entry into your own words. ~ Revoran | talk 23:55, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Question
I recently banned a few vandals (I would have issued warnings, but they kept on vandalising the exact same page in a short amount of time, so I had to fix it...) are banned users / IP addresses able to see the reason for them being banned? And are they blocked entirely (ala traditional websites) or are they only blocked from editing (which is what i'm guessing)?
Is there any way way for me to quickly see if a user has been blocked before (without going through the block log and searching their IP); so I know whether or not to issue a longer/perma-ban? Btw, the formatting was a little stuffed in the topic above this one, so I made a tiny edit and fixed it, hope you don't mind. ~ Revoran | talk 23:55, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Having never been banned from a wiki, I'm not sure about your first point. I would guess that they can still visit the wiki to view articles, and they can check Recent Changes to see the reasons given for blocking them. If you block an IP address there's an option to prevent them from creating a user account, but I tend to leave that box unchecked because users with accounts are easier to keep track of, and blocking IP addresses could cause problems if anyone else wants to edit the wiki from that address. As to the second point, Special:Ipblocklist shows currently blocked users, but I don't think there's a way to see if a user has been blocked before if their ban has run out. - Pendrako talk 11:05, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Just a heads up
Just thought i'd let you know, in case anything comes up :)
Copied from User talk: Bishop:
- I'm having a fair bit of trouble with my shcooling - i'm in year 12 (6th form / senior year) and it's important I qualify for our final shcool leaver's certificate; the HSC, for what I want to do after school. I'm actually doing pretty badly for various reasons =/ and I have a window here where I can salvage my chances of achieving that qualification by working my ass off. Because of that, my contributions to the wiki might be erratic for the next month, particularly the next week or two. Not a great time I know. I'm not saying I won't contribute or anything like that, just that if anything seems weird - that's why. ~ Revoran | talk 01:04, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- No worries mate, and good luck with it. We've all been there. Take as long as you need, and give it your best shot. - Pendrako talk 07:55, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] A quick sorry
Just a quick apology for putting up the image of the daemonette without the copy right underneath and it being in the wrong bestiary box section, I am kinda new to this whole wikia thing, managed to resolve the problem of it being in the wrong box myself and the copyright.
Once again sorry! —The preceding unsigned comment was made by Coruk (contribs) .
[edit] UI Image
Hey Pen, on the UI page, I noticed you made a handy image of the UI showing what everything is. The UI has changed since then - could you make another? Another user has stated he'd like to work on the page, but was wonering about the image - see Talk:User interface. ~ Revoran | talk 06:29, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Quick Question
Good day Sir.
I am very intrested in this game, but I see the one career I would choose to be Green Skin "Choppa" is not available at launch. I was wondering if you had any info of when and if it will become available?
Thank you MjolnirWolf--MjolnirWolf 01:16, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hey MojolnirWolf, Pendrako doesn't usually post around this time - it's about 3AM Sunday morning where he is. But to answer your question, we simply have no idea when the Choppa might be available. And that's a "might" - it may never become available, ever. We simply don't know. Forums such as Warhammer Alliance and War RvR have much speculation on whether it might be brought back or not, or replaced with another career (i'm in favour of the Slayer and Savage Orc, personally). But at this stage speculation is all there is, sorry to dissapoint. The supposed mirror career the Dwarf Hammerer, has also been cut. Sucks, I know. ~ Revoran | talk 01:45, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Reverted Vandalism
While I usually feel it's important to stay clear of editing another's user page, I went ahead and reverted some vandalism done this morning. My apologies in advance if I've stepped on any toes. -- Heaven's Agent 13:30, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- With only Revoran as the only active admin around I think it might be time to increase the number of people who can block vandals.∞ Sunspots {Talk | Contribs} 14:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Template Question
Hi there. I've been trying to bring over a couple useful templates from wikipedia/wowwiki such as their Navbox but am running into some issues. I've described them more at my sandbox and would love some help figuring out why it doesn't work here and works in other mediawikis. It is important to note that there are far more inconsistencies than I noted in my sandbox, I just haven't sorted them out yet. I figure starting with one might explain enough to figure out the rest. -- Bincho 00:36, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
