[edit] Thanks
Yeah, 'twas vandalism: example - Thanks. Not that it matters too much, but sorry for not fowarding the newsletter, i've been having major computer troubles, my rig was in the shop when the newsletter came out, and for a while afterwards. It's probably gonna have to go back in sometime too. You would have gotten it anyway so yeah. ~ Revoran 10:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I forgot to mention. I ended up getting it on the sixth. I was like "Man, I already know everything that's in it, it's depressing. lol. Thanks anyway, though, man. I didn't even look at his previous changes to it, I just saw the page blanked and was like "Fixing this...." --Mikeblack 12:31, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] IMPORTANT
Apparently this month's newsletter came out - and I didn't get it. For whatever reason. Would someone mind fwd'ing it to me? --Mikeblack 00:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
It hasn't as far as I know. That thread on WHA is just because people found some of the stuff from the newsletter had been uploaded. I'll forwarrd it to you if I recieve it. ~ Revoran 04:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I realized that a little later on, Rev. I was flipping out for a second there. ;) --Mikeblack 11:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Malus Darkblade article
Heya!
Just to clarify...your spell check edited out some words that are actually correct, but british english more than american (such as endeavour/endeavor or travelling/traveling). Am I to use the american forms in the future to avoid that? ;) Also, why do you feel the article needs a major rewrite? I'm kinda new to wikis, so a little input would be very helpful. Thanks very much!

- Hey Rowhin. First off - Welcome! Thanks for the help! Don't mind the English-American spellings. Feel free to go back and change them. I believe the majority of the staff is actually English, so I'd be wrong to impose my upbringing on that. If you see it in the future, always feel free to edit it and say "American changed to English spelling" or something like that.
- As far as the re-write goes, it's mainly about the formatting. If you go back and read the article, you'll notice it is more of a descriptive, storytelling tone. Where as normal Wiki entries are from a more passive and objective tone. In terms of writing articles in a more "Wiki" oriented format, youll want to try to avoid stream of consciousness posts ("and then...and then...and then...",) avoid referring to the same noun by name over and over ("Malekith did this, then Malekith killed him, and Malekith was happy",) and avoid repeatidly linking to the same articles over and over (generally, in a wiki, you'll want to link to the first mention of an item - such as "Dark Elves" - and then avoid doing it again.) You'll get the hang of it as you go, man. --Mikeblack 21:10, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm from Australia and so it's habit to use British English, but I was thinking perhaps American english would be a good idea, because most of the English speaking visitors to the wiki will be American? 60 million vs 250 million. Think about it ;) ~ Revoran
[edit] How many would notice
How many of those 250 million would you say would notice/care if it was American English versus British English? I'd feel it would be better to just keep the correct tone and context of the post rather then worrying too much about a few differences in spelling. The Wiki nature makes it fairly hard to keep it perfectly straight as edits and revisions will be frequent and it's far from certain that whoever makes the revision is even aware there is a difference between American/English. To set one as recommended might be an idea, but more then that would be fairly futile as I see it.

- As a general rule of thumb, I've been using british spelling for lore articles and american spelling for game information articles. The reasoning being, lore articles come from GW, who spell things the British way, but the game is being made by EA Mythic, who spell things the
wrongAmerican way. When it comes to article titles, we should endeavour (endeavor) to spell them the way they're spelt (spelled) in the game (e.g. Armor), and according to accepted policy, the spelling system followed isn't as important as making sure that the article as a whole is consistent with a single system. If the article title follows American spelling, then it wouldn't make sense to write the rest of the article according to British spelling. - Pendrako talk 16:33, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's pretty much how I felt. --Mikeblack 15:35, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
