From HammerWiki
Hi everyone! A brand new and cool user page is coming later, but here is an introduction of myself for now.
I've played Warhammer Fantasy Battles since 1997 and been a GM on a massive 15 player Warhammer Roleplaying Game campaign, so you can imagine that I'm very enthusiastic about Warhammer Online. Actually, I've been waiting for the game since they first started planning it in 2001.
I've been contributing to Guild Wiki and the official Guild Wars wiki for a long time (and been sysop on both) so I know my way around wikis and might prove helpful here if I find the time to contribute. I have a very tough year in Helsinki University of Technology now, but I'm trying my best.
In addition to WAR I'm also planning to spend my free time with dance games as usual. I'm a top 8 dance gamer in Finland and the president of the Finnish Dance Gamer Association, so this hobby takes a lot of time too.
[edit] Beta experience
It took me a long time to get to the beta due to GOA screwing up the whole European beta registration system, but we finally managed to get in with my girlfriend, and have now been testing a variety of the classes available. I'll be posting my personal feelings in detail later on, but here is a quick summary of the classes that I've played so far:
- Skrizaak - Squig Herder - I was really looking forward to this class and it was my favourite before getting to play the game. I still think it's pretty nice to play with, but combat feels a bit slow with him.
- Jessith - Disciple of Khaine - Since I didn't have much preference with any other classes in the game than the Herder, I went with my instincts on the second one. This one really felt great to play on even though I've never really played a healing role before. The mix of combat and healing surprisingly make her the perfect match for me since I'm used to playing self supporting characters in other games.
- Erika - Magus - I wanted to break out of my bad feelings towards ranged mage classes in general, so I rolled out the cool looking disc rider. Art wise I love playing it, but the feel of ranged casting just doesn't work for me, even with the cool addition of summons.
- Jessith - Swordmaster - Since my Destruction server went down I decided to try out some or the Order classes. The Swordmaster felt pretty ok, though the combo system didn't fullfill my desire for unique specialities. It's just been done so many times in the exactly same way.
- Danya - Witch Hunter - The only Order class that I was interested because of the actual Warhammer lore. Playing her in action felt better than I thought. The pistol and sword combination make her varied and fun to play.
You might notice that one race is missing. I just don't feel like playing with a dwarf (unless it's a Slayer).
[edit] Live
Me and my girlfriend mainly play destruction on the Europen Role-Play server Burlok. We also have order characters on the Role-Play server Makaisson. Sadly we don't have too much time to play due to university studies, so this time we are more or less casual instead of hard core.
My current main character is a Chosen named Turog, who resides in the guild Raven Host. You can see my full and up-to-date character listing at WarDB.
Update: I have decided not to renew my subscription. I'm too overwhelmed with things to do in real life and the game doesn't offer enough fun for the small time I have available to invest.
