In WAR, characters from the Empire are members of an Imperial knightly order known as the Order of the Griffon. As part of the Alliance of Order, the army of the Empire is pitted against the destructive forces of the Raven Host.
The Order of the Griffon is a new knightly order in the lands of the Empire, created by Emperor Karl Franz himself. Unlike most martial orders, whose Inner Circles and Grand Masters stand aloof from other Imperial institutions and respond independently of their own accord to outside requests for assistance, the Order of the Griffon is designed to be an integral part of the Imperial army - they are an elite military force answerable only to the Emperor himself, with an authority that supersedes that of the Elector Counts and their provincial generals. Freed from these bureaucratic constraints, the Order is able to move swiftly to coordinate the defense of the northern provinces of the Empire against the Chaos incursion.
