[edit] More information for this page

I have some more information that I have gathered while visiting the Winds of Chaos, but because I'm not that familiar with the Warhammer universe lore-wise I feel that I can not use the information I've gathered to write the information in any substantial way, for instance I don't even know what to call some of the places I've seen. So I simply don't want to go "Ice cavern-thingy" and hope for someone to edit it to be okay later. I think you understand what I mean. So instead I'm going to write that down here in hopes that anyone else with the information can use mine to extend theirs when adding it to the article.

[edit] The different Winds of Chaos

The "Island" located in the Winds of Chaos
  • "The Ice Caverns" is as the name describes a cavern (meaning also that you can't look past the "cavern room" your in), without entrance nor exit. In the middle of the cavern stands a High Elf by the looks of the armor, likely sword master type, fighting a dog. Both are frozen solid, covered with icicles, indicating that they've been there quite a while. For a image reference, look at the image of the article.
  • "The Island" is by the looks of it a smaller Island piece located in The Blighted Isle, or at least in the Elven kingdom by the tropical looks of the textures.
  • "The Birds Nests" located on what looks like the peak of an mountain, surrounded by a "nothingness" (similar to that of Fate's Edge, without of the chaos and the dark aspects of it) are a bunch of birds nests, when you enter you land in one of them. Around you, floating in the nothingness, are large warships for the different races. I did not stay long enough to be sure that its one of each, but I'm sure I saw that one was Dark Elf and one that was Empire. But there was at least 4 ships so its a big chance there were once from more factions/races. -Azade91 10:24, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't recognize any of these locations you've listed from the lore at all and i'm not exactly new to Warhammer... perhaps they're just the insane creations of Mythic developers with too much coffee and a little spare time? ~ Revoran | talk 10:30, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps, but I just wanted to make sure before writing about them so someone don't go "Hey thats the famous ?%@}& you morron!", not that i really think someone would, I bet you are all really nice people. But also I did not really know how write about them, being that wikis should be very neatly written and structured in my opinion. So feel free to take the stuff I've written here and put it in the article, because I think I can not write about something I know so little about and still make it good. When I get back into the game on Monday with the head start I'm going to get back to the Chaos Winds when I find time and take some screen shots and explore it some more. -Azade91 10:45, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Well i'll do that if I get time. But feel free to write information that's not very neat into the wiki. The great thing about wikis is that someone is always there to fix your (or my) mistakes. :) - And no one would attack you about an edit. We have a policy of no personal attacks, and consistently doing it can result in banning. ~ Revoran | talk 11:18, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Awesome. I would also like to apologized about the mishandling with the picture, did not think it matter cause it was in the discussion part but then I realized that its going into the database so of course it matters! I would edit/reupload it with a new name if I just could figure out how to do it. So if any admin could delete it I would appreciate it a lot. Also a question for Revoran I did not understand exactly how I'm supposed to use that ScreenShot template so if you could write and clarify that on My Talk it would mean a lot. Thanks. No worries - commented on your talk page. ~ Revoran | talk 15:42, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Spoiler warnings

Perhaps a Spoiler Warning could be in place for this article, being that its an Easter egg and by reading the article you spoil it? -Azade91 11:04, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

May I edit and add that info? Dr.M.Ginius 11:25, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Anyone's welcome to edit the wiki. Be bold! If there's a disagreement, anyone's welcome to join a friendly debate afterwards. That's what talk pages are for. So far, however, the general consensus on HammerWiki has been that spoiler warnings are somewhat moot as everything that's documented here could be considered a spoiler to someone. » Bishop · talk « 12:32, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying that about the Spoiler Warnings, its always so hard to know what standards peoples have on different communities. Azade91 12:49, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Article Front Image

I am planing on once I get back into the game to visit the Winds of Chaos and take some clean pictures of all the different places. But I realize that I will not be able to have all of them on the Article so which of the Winds of Chaos do you think we should have displayed on the top of the article to represent to whole concept? Because the on that's there right now will not do, and I knew that when I placed it there, its just a place holder for now. Suggestions please, perhaps a way to display them all? Azade91 20:33, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Like to add to my own comment and say that as it is right now with the image contributed by XAlliedYouthX it looks perfect and i realize now myself that the best way to portrait the Winds of Chaos is not with images from the Winds themselves but by only showing the entrance to it, leaving kind of a mystical touch to the whole thing. And it also makes the article somewhat spoiler free, making the need to explore the places for yourself a requirement to find out more, which is something i would recommend anyone doing instead of looking it over a pair of images. Winds of Chaos rocks! Once again, thanks XAlliedYouthX it was a nice contribution. Azade91 06:15, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Lol, you're a humble fellow aren't you. I think there's a way to compromise here: By using the gallery feature, and adding a gallery section at the bottom of the article we can put in as many images as are needed without cluttering the article. I've always been a big fan of the gallery function being a bit of a videophile. I've added a gallery, check it out - feel free to remove it if it doesn't work, or add more images. ~ Revoran | talk 02:34, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Costwold Merger

Moved from talk:Costwold

[edit] Merger

I suggest we merge this, as all the places in the Winds of Chaos are simply called "Winds of Chaos" regardless of which random area it is. Also, Having and article on this sort of tempts people to add non WAR related information, which isn't really what the wiki is about. Good initiative to create the article, though. ~ Revoran | talk 12:04, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that sounds like a great idea. The only reason for which I did a new article in the first place for Cotswold was that I did not want to crowd such a small article as Winds of Chaos with too many images. So if you can figure out a good way to merge them, please go ahead. Azade91 11:29, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
No worries, articles have been merged. ~ Revoran | talk 02:30, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
