Talk:Dark Elf
From HammerWiki
Assuming that this page is accurate (consider the source...), I think the Dark Elf page should get the same treatment as the other races got. The move option seemed pretty stern and seeing as I have next to no idea how to do anything here I'd figure saying something here is a much better way of going about things. —The preceding unsigned comment was made by AlphaMoose (contribs) 07:35, 2 July 2007.
- Just to make sure we're on the same page, your conclusion from the dev-talk is that the official ingame name of the Dark Elf army will be House Uthorin, am I correct? That's how I read it, but I was not considering it quite as official as the newsletter-mentioned names. However, if everyone else interprets the Dev Diary the same way, I'll go about making the move happen (so let me know). --Bishop 04:57, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
- "If you choose to play a Dwarf, you'll join the Oathbearers, a regiment formed by the High King and given an important mission that frames much of the Dwarf content. As a Dark Elf, you'll belong to House Uthorin, one of the most powerful noble houses in Naggaroth."
- Seems clear enough to me. We don't need to move the Dark Elf page though, because it only contains background material for the race, and nothing about the Dark Elf army. The articles we have now for Dark Elves and High Elves is the kind of thing we need to create for Dwarfs and the other races. Once we get proper game-specific info about House Uthorin (careers, zones etc), we can create that article. --Pendrako 11:12, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
- I think there's something about this we're getting wrong. From what I understood, the Oathbreakers, House Uthorin, and the Order of the Griffon, aren't the armies per se - they are the elite forces which we will be gaining Influence through questing and whatnot. Their storylines are a part of the overall storyline - the Order of the Gryphon trying to unravel Tchar'zanek's plans, and so on - but not the whole magilla. Vikingkingq
- I know it's a bit sudden, but from the latest newsletter, and especially the article linked above, it seems fairly clear-cut to me. It makes sense as well, in terms of the IP. None of the races or nations in Warhammer are entirely unified - they all have factions within factions (eg Sigmarites vs Ulricans in the Empire). Characters in WAR need to have a clear purpose for their role in the game which is consistent with the IP and the circumstances of the Age of Reckoning. This deals with a lot of the complaints that fans of Warhammer and RPers might have had about the game - presenting PCs as members of an elite faction within the regular army explains how they have access to much more magical items than usual, how they are able to travel freely around the world, and how they are limited to just a few careers.
- What we've learned about the NPC members of these factions makes a lot more sense now - in a way, they will act as your superior officers, handing down orders and giving you missions to carry out, i.e. quests. These factional quests seem to be at the heart of the game, being directly involved with the RvR contest, so I would argue that these will be the 'epic' quests that cover multiple chapters as your character advances. Not quite the whole magilla, but definitely a big chunk of it. --Pendrako 06:50, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
- I agree. But I think that's a reason that they should have their own pages, prominantly featured on the army page, but not be shoved into the army page itself. Vikingkingq
Good point. Since this is an issue which goes beyond the Dark Elf army, it's probably best to continue this discussion over at Talk:Army. --Pendrako 04:56, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
[edit] Careers
Is there some source for Shade and Blood Priest? Because as far I know, Mythic hasn't released any of the remaining HE/DE careers, although I suppose it's possible something got leaked at an event. Vikingkingq
- Without a credible source, we have to assume this is either a) inaccurate, or b) a violation of the NDA. Removed for the time being. --Pendrako talk 07:49, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
[edit] Z-shaped Symbol
What does that Z-shaped Symbol mean? And whats it called? Its a Z with a vertical line going right through the middle, and a small, short line that hangs down from the tail of the letter.--24.87.4.53 12:02, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
- It's a symbol mythic has used for druchii since the beginning of the game, it should be a dark elf rune of some meaning, perhaps the rune of House Uthorin.--SirRandomage 12:27, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
