The Old Ones

From HammerWiki

(Redirected from Old Ones)
Jump to: navigation, search

The Old Ones are the mysterious shaping hand of the Warhammer World. They arrived on the world and molded it into the fashion it is now known, moving it closer to the sun and creating many sentient races to inhabit it, including the Lizardmen, the Elves, the Dwarfs and Humans among others.

In addition, they constructed two great Warp Gates at either pole. These were used to cross into an interstellar realm known as the Aethyr, or the Realm of Chaos and allowed them to traverse great distances in mere instants. At some point in the distant past these gateways collapsed, puncturing the barrier between the physical and the immaterial and allowing Chaos energy from the Aethyr to flow into the world. It is from this energy that magical power is drawn and the Winds of Magic are defined. After this event the Old Ones disappeared, leaving their endeavors in the hands of the Slann and Lizardmen to complete. The Lizardmen now worship the Old Ones as gods and await their return.
