The Storm Breaks - Cry Havoc!

Folks,

As of now, the Non Disclosure portions of our North American Beta Testing Agreement are now officially lifted. From this point on players may now freely talk about their experiences in the game as well as post screenshots, videos, etc. We will be sending an email out to all our current players with full details about the lift over the next 24 hours. Players with access to our forums can also see the letter there. Players may not talk about nor reprint posts from our forums and our Test Servers (currently Deathsword) are still fully covered by the confidentiality portions of our Beta Testing Agreement. So, other than that, free feel to talk about and share your experiences in WAR.

My thanks go out to everyone who has beta tested and continues to beta test WAR. It has been with your help and feedback that WAR is where it is today. We really appreciate your effort.

WAR is almost upon us!

Mark Jacobs VP, GM Mythic Entertainment

The 2007 Greeny's @ TheGreenskin.com

James Nichols

Have a favorite fansite you like to haunt while you wait eagerly from Warhammer to arrive?

Show your pride at TheGreenskin.com as they host the 2007 Greeny's - WAR Community Awards.

From the site:

“What exactly are The Greenys,” you ask? Let me tell you!
The Greenys is an annual awards ceremony not unlike the Emmys or Oscars but instead of showcasing television and film, The Greeny Awards promote the best Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning community sites in five major categories (from the past year). These are sites that share lots of useful information and provide interesting discussion material for rabid WAR fans!
Rather than prescribe arbitrary criteria and risk showing favoritism, I’ve opened nominations and voting to WAR fans everywhere.

For all the rules and how to nominate your favorite site visit www.TheGreenskin.com.

We'd like to thank every fansite for all of the hardwork and dedication you put in day after day!

Hello from the New Community Relations Director!

Robert Mull

Greetings All,

I’m Robert Mull, the new Community Relations Director for EA Mythic. I oversee the work our team of Community Coordinators do for Warhammer Online (James Nichols), Dark Age of Camelot (Missy Hatch and Joanne Laroche) and Ultima Online (Jeremy Dalberg). They are a great team and I am lucky to have inherited them.

As a gamer who got his start in MMOs with the Ultima Online beta, being allowed to support the same community that made that game so enjoyable to me is a real pleasure and I feel like I have come full circle. Since then a decade has passed and I have played countless MMOs. A few of these became part of my daily routine for years as I worked to found guilds, build cities, run player-events, engage in pvp conflicts, roleplay, and be an active member of the gaming community. While the games have changed over the years, the real draw for me has always been the people. A strong well-supported community makes good games great.

Prior to coming to EA Mythic, I worked at Wizards of the Coast supporting brands such as Avalon Hill, Axis & Allies, Dreamblade, Duel Masters and other products. I learned many lessons there that I have brought with me to EA Mythic, but first and foremost is that you have to be honest and open with your community.

In the coming months you will be hearing much more from me. I want to continue and extend the reputation EA Mythic has built for integrity, honesty and quality in community and customer support. Our job here is to be the voice of the community inside EA Mythic and the voice of the people working hard at EA Mythic to the community. The Community Relations team is a feedback loop and our goal is making the community better, day by day. I, for one, take that job very seriously and enjoy it immensely.

I look forward to talking to you all on the boards and at Road Trips, conventions and other public events.

- Bob

Beta Center Down?

Greeting everyone!

I've received many questions wondering why the North American Beta Center is currently unavailable. Never fear the answer is very simple - the Beta Center is currently down for maintenance getting it ready to go for when we kick Beta back into gear next month. We'll be inviting in a lot of new faces and want to make sure everything is in tip-top shape before we do!

Thanks for the questions, - James

Shadows in the Mists!

The October newsletter has just been released and we now know the third High Elf class - the grim and deadly Shadow Warrior!

Last week saw the most recent newsletter reach the mailboxes of WAR fans around the world and one of the most eagerly anticipated items was the unveiling of a third High Elf career. Now the wait is over for those of you who want to play a ranged High Elf damage dealer – you will be able to take on the role of a Shadow Warrior.

These deadly archers have been waging a vicious war of lethal ambushes, murderous assassinations and lightning hit and run raids against their treacherous kin on the gloomy moors of Nagarythe. It is said amongst the High Elves that running afoul of one of these brutal warriors is almost as terrifying as crossing the path of a Dark Elf.

Watch the exclusive video introduction of the Shadow Warrior and stay tuned for more career information.

The WAR beta moves into a new phase

The end of one era but the start of a bright new age!

Greetings all!

Recently, all WAR Beta participants received a letter stating our plan to end this phase of the closed beta test this Wednesday, October 10th. We periodically close Beta, our last closure being in March of this year, to focus on major improvements and polish. The next phase of Beta will reopen in early December with plenty of new and improved content, art and systems for our beta-testers. Even though the servers will be closed, our beta community will be kept in the loop and we are very much looking forwards to receiving their feedback on the many changes that are planned.

We are very proud to have reached this point in development. Beta has been going very well and the testing community is extremely active. Excitement around the game continues to grow and the team is looking forward to enhancing many features already in the game as well as continuing to add new features to an already great game.

Based on player feedback, our own observations and our current schedule, we have set the following major development goals:

  • Improve open field skirmishes and battlefield objectives with major enhancements.
  • Provide players with even more options to customise their character - both through their abilities and visual appearance.
  • Continue to enhance Public Quests and the PQ System.
  • Prepare the Elves for their release into the world!

When the beta reopens, we look forward to welcoming back all of our current testers, as well as many new faces - the regular schedule of beta invites will begin again once the servers are reopened. Additionally, shortly after re-opening the doors, we will be inviting the first wave of guilds into the beta to really get things rolling.

Thank you!
- The Warhammer: Age of Reckoning Team
