[edit] About the policy issue

In its current form, the Sign your comments-article really isn't a policy -- it is merely a howto on formatting and assigning a signature. I don't currently feel there is any reason to tag it as policy, with all that would entail.

The reason why I specifically only imported the practical howto bits, and none of the specific do and do nots is that I personally do not agree with a subset of GW policy on the issue and if I was to import it verbatim, I would be doing myself a disservice. But on the other hand, if I was to import and adapt the policy to conform to how I would like it to be, then I would be bypassing the wiki process. And I could certainly pretend to hold a discussion, but as I fear I am "too heavy" a persona on HammerWiki at the moment, I didn't think it would result in any kind of honest debate.

So as not to sound too mysterious, the tiny bits that I disagree with in the GW policies have to do with GW:YOU and the automatic assumption that not-logged-in-users are as capable of determining policy as those that accept a (very modest) token of accountability. I should write much more on the issue, and I plan to at some point, but please understand that this does not mean I think anonymous users should not be able to edit the wiki -- quite the contrary. I consider every contribution to content essential to the whole, and it should never be a requirement to be logged in to edit a wiki. --Bishop 14:16, 29 March 2007 (CDT)

There seems to be a broken link here. I'm not sure if this is because of an intended, but not yet implemented change on wikipedia (so I haven't edited it), but the link for the Tip of the day/June 30 needs to be "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tip_of_the_day/June_30" and not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tip_of_the_day/June_30,_2006", as the latter goes nowhere currently. --Bekkr 06:31, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Strange. Just tested and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tip_of_the_day/June_30,_2006 works for me. Are you using NoScript or an uncommon browser? » Bishop · talk « 15:04, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
He, Pendrako was faster than me and already fixed it in the article proper. Even though that still doesn't explain you are not able to get it to work with the ", 2006" appended. » Bishop · talk « 15:06, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I believe it was because the wiki software was parsing the comma weirdly. I just cut'n'paste the url into the article again - the latest update to MediaWiki changed some of the ways it converted symbols in url strings, which is probably why the wikipedia link stopped working all of a sudden. -- Pendrako talk 18:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate policy issue

Eh wait. I just realized this is a outdated version of the signature policy. The HammerWiki specific one that I worked on a while ago is at HammerWiki:Signature_policy. It's basically a fork of the same article with more information and I am going to suggest we replace this version with a redirect. --» Bishop · talk « 15:13, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
