[edit] HammerWiki and original content
HammerWiki is first and foremost a documentation site. We document Warhammer Online. What this means is that we do not really need long and complicated articles about the immense background of Warhammer (although you are welcome to write such if you please). Instead, we can easily get by with short, to-the-point descriptive articles concerning all the backstory and Warhammer Fantasy elements.
The optimal thing you can do, when considering extended Warhammer lore, is to read several sources that concern the topic you wish to describe, and then boil down the knownledge into a few good paragraphs of text on HammerWiki.
When describing/documenting things that pertain to the game directly, it is a different matter: we want as much depth and information about game-related things as we can possibly get (so no addition is too large or too small). Of course, you still have to either write it yourself or ask permission, copying from other sites is rarely okay:
Please do not import articles from other sites unless you are absolutely sure that their use on HammerWiki is authorised and that they may be re-released under the GNU-FDL or similar license. Unless, of course, you are the original author of the article. Unless bound by contract, original authors may always release their work under any and all licenses they please. This is necessary because all articles on HammerWiki are edited by many users and all must have the same rights.
Any content that differs from this policy should be clearly marked as such even to the casual observer. For example with the tag {{WARImport}} for descriptions imported from the official WAR site.
Images only have to be authorized for use, not necessarily re-licensing. Any image that you upload, which is not to be covered by the GFDL should be clearly marked as such. And again: you cannot use other people's images without permission. We can, however, use officially sanctioned material for illustrational purposes, such as screenshots and graphics from the official sites.
[edit] Sites that can be copied under the GFDL or similar license
While it is not illegal to directly copy information from the websites below, it is considered good practice to mark them with the appropriate tags so later they can be re-written so as not to be direct copies.
That's it for now. Please add any others that you are aware of if, and only if, they allow both re-use and re-release.
