Chaos Portals are large rifts between the Warhammer world and the dimension known as the Realm of Chaos. Many small man-made versions are featured in WAR.

Chaos Portals spew the raw energy of Chaos (raw, unrefined Magic) into the Warhammer World, which distorts reality around them, as this raw magic is the literal stuff of another dimension. Rocks float above, ignoring gravity and vegetation mutates while daemons manifest and march forth from the portal. Several natural portals exist, the original and largest ones being at north and south poles.

• Northern Chaos Gate

Originally created as a point of transport by the Old Ones, this collapsed and now spews huge amounts of Chaos energy into the world.

• Southern Chaos Gate

Originally created as a point of transport by the Old Ones, this collapsed and now spews huge amounts of Chaos energy into the world.

• Inevitable City Chaos Portal

This is the huge Chaos Portal in the crater near the Inevitable City, it tears away at the city and as such the north of the city is very warped and distorted.

• The Rift of Rage

This large Chaos Portal leads to the part of the Realm of Chaos dedicated to Khorne and is just beyond the Bastion Stair.

• The portal in Norsca, in front of which Chaos players start in WAR.
